Available Positions:

This mid-level position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or a related Science. Prospective applicants should have 2-4 years of staff-level experience in environmental site assessments, site characterizations, subsurface investigations, PA Brownfield work, underground/above-ground storage tank work, groundwater/soil sampling collection, remediation systems, and report writing related to these activities. The position involves 60% office work and 40% field work. Field duties include participating in hydrogeological investigations, environmental site assessments, underground storage tank projects, sinkhole investigations, spill response, and geotechnical studies. Office work includes project coordination, scheduling, data management, and technical report writing. Skills/knowledge required include excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, drafting), and strong technical report writing skills. OSHA 40-hour/PA UST/Asbestos certifications, geologist-in-training, and/or a Professional Geologist license are a plus. A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required. This entry-level position requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in a science discipline such as Geology, Environmental Science, Biology, or similar fields. Duties include groundwater and soil sampling collection, geological/hydrogeological investigations, operations and maintenance of remediation systems, assistance/logging during environmental drilling operations, and environmental site assessments. Some overnight travel is required, along with the ability to tolerate all weather conditions (hot/cold, wet/dry, windy, etc.) and to care for and maintain company equipment. Skills/knowledge required include computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook), ability to understand and carry out assignments following regulatory guidelines, and proficiency with field equipment such as PID meters, drill rigs, and data loggers. Mechanical ability for minor repairs and working on remediation systems/equipment is helpful. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are mandatory. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training is needed (Company will supply if not trained). Independent work and attention to detail are essential. Overnight and regular travel Monday through Friday may be required. Professional certifications/aspirations are a plus (Professional Geologist, Geologist in Training, Underground Storage Tank Certification, Asbestos or Lead Certifications, etc.). We are looking to hire a college intern for the Consulting Department. The intern should be working on a degree in Geology, Science, Environmental and Earth Sciences, Biology or other degree. The candidate will need to have full day/s available to be able to go to job sites and a large block of time is needed.

Mountain Research typically hires college interns in the environmental fields.  We will be evaluating the positions for fall, winter and summer interns.
