FIELD SAMPLER

Position of a Field Sampler in our Consulting Department consists of the following duties: This full time position includes working in all types of weather and various types of terrain.  Majority of time is spent outdoors.  Hours are Monday through Friday - 40 + per week.  Responsibilities include: utilizing and maintaining specialized sampling  and / or field equipment, travel to job sites to sample soil, groundwater, etc using proper equipment and sampling techniques, may also be trained to assist Geotechnical / Environmental Driller.   No college degree required, however, completed Science courses, a plus.  Mechanical ability, including electrical, plumbing and / or heavy equipment operation is a plus.  Valid driver's license and clean driving record required. Some heavy lifting required. CDL Class B, is a plus.

Qualifications:

Valid Drivers License with clean driving record

Education: High School degree or equivalent

Skills: Ability to follow and carry out simple instructions, emails, and paperwork. Ability to communicate verbally and / or written with peers, supervisors and / or clients.  Smartphone and computer skills to complete simple electronic tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL / GEOTECHNICAL DRILLER

We are looking for motivated experienced driller for our environmental and geotechnical operations.  This position is available immediately.  We are looking for dependable, hard working and safety oriented applicants to fill this vital position.

Full time position that includes frequent overnight travel - Monday through Friday (occasional weekend) and working outdoors in all weather conditions. Responsibilites include: performing geotechnical and environmental drilling functions or assisting in the drilling (i.e. Hollow Stem Auger, Air Rotary, Rock Coring, etc), installing monitoring wells and soil borings and other geological / hydrogeological investigations, maintenance and operations of company drill rigs and other field equipment, maintenance of remediation systems, driving company vehicles including rollback truck requiring CDL Class B license. Compliance with Substance Abuse policy required.

Qualifications:

Valid CDL Class B with clean driving record and safe driving history.

Education: High School degree or equivalent

Experience: Driller - 2-3 years envrionmental and / or geotechnical drilling, heavy equipment operations.

Skills:  Ability to follow and carry out simple instructions, emails, use electronic logging devices for hours of service. Ability to communication verballey and / or written with peers, supervisors and / or clients. Smartphone and computer skills to complete simple electronic tasks as well as ability to use electronic logging device for hours of service.

DRILLER HELPER

This very important position will be assisting the driller and is available immediately.  We are looking for a candidate that is a fast thinking and is able to work closely with the drilling anticipating their needs.  They may also be trained to specifically work with the drill rigs.

We are asking for 1-2 years experience in the drilling or environmental area.

Full time position that includes frequent overnight travel - Monday through Friday (occasional weekend) and working outdoors in all weather conditions. Internships

We are looking to hire a college intern for the Altoona Consulting Department. The intern should be working on a degree in Geology, Science, Environmental and Earth Sciences, Biology or other degree. The candidate will need to have full day/s available to be able to go to job sites and a large block of time is needed.

Mountain Research typically hires college interns in the environmental or laboratory fields.  We will be evaluating the positions for fall, winter and summer interns.
